Philips Semiconductors was eager to turn their purchasing department around. They were used to simply ‘ordering stuff’ but were keen on changing this into a supply chain organization. Planning was essential: taking lead in developing a sourcing strategy fitted to the needs of all business partners. A coherent savings roadmap that meets company targets was also key to this change. A delivery on commitment was essential to this project: leading the sourcing process and contract negotiations led to exceeding company’s expectations. In the end, all these steps resulted in a reliable supply base.
